We stepped into this profession through our father Emanuel Fenz who started the EUROPEAN CULTURAL HISTORY PROGRAMS with Eastern Michigan University. As daughters of a history professor and university professor who developed travel study programs for students, we grew up accompanying and eventually guiding study tours through Europe and the Middle East and we have been guiding on and off ever since. In addition to our extensive travel and guiding experience we both studied subjects very relevant to our work as guides.
Ingrid Fenz studied Modern Languages, History of Art and Comparative Literature at the University of Michigan (BA) and Indiana University (MA) and Italian and Italian culture at the University of Florence, German and German and Austrian culture at the University of Innsbruck and the University of Regensburg.
Heidi Fenz studied Cultural Anthropology and Comparative Literature (BA) at the University of Michigan, German Literature and Comparative Literature (M.A.) University of Michigan, Hebrew and Religious Studies at Hebrew University, Jerusalem. In Israel she spent years studying Jewish texts and religion in a traditional environment. It is also in Israel that Heidi completed a degree to become a professional tour guide.
Between us we speak English, German, Italian, French, and Hebrew.
We live or have lived in the places we will be taking you to and so have a deep understanding of the cultures and places you will be visiting.
